We Stand with Ukraine — Benefit T-Shirts

Inspired by the efforts of local restauranteur Jamie McDonald who recently cooked and served meals to Ukraine refugees crossing into Poland, Stackpole Moore Tryon owner Jody Morneault wanted to figure out a way to help. She worked with her husband Ron and reached out to local award-winning art director Ellis Echevarria to create a benefit t-shirt. The iconic "STAND" design is the first t-shirt now becoming a benefit series by local artists. Today the series has grown to three historic designs, all produced in limited quantities.

After launching "STAND," while praying and meditating for peace, Jody yearned to create a feminine t-shirt design to honor the women and children fleeing Ukraine. Simultaneously, Hartford artist Amy LaBossiere worked in her studio half a mile from the store, creating a "prayer painting" for Ukraine. When Amy read about Ellis's STAND shirts, she wanted to support the artist and the initiative. She asked her husband, Tao LaBossiere, to join her and get one of the shirts. They walked into Stackpole Moore Tryon. They approached Jody, introducing themselves and discussing how grateful they were to Jody for the fundraiser. Amy decided to tell Jody about her prayer painting, and Jody asked to see it. In a moment of synchronicity, Jody instantly knew this artwork answered her prayers for a feminine t-shirt. "Prayers for Peace" was printed the following week and is now available.
